In this series of workshops we will play with language to improve our writing, and we will explore when and how not to follow writing rules, how to refine your writing style, how to ensure distinct voices and tight dialogue; how to boost your creativity; and the difference between memoir, autobiography, and using the self in fiction.
COURSE SCHEDULE:
October 15: When and how not to follow the rules of writing; share work; workshop
October 29: Refine your writing style (and how to engage readers without sacrificing your style) and when your style doesn’t matter; share work; workshop
November 12: Dialogue: how to tighten it and create distinct voices; share work; workshop

Course is limited to 10 students so everyone has the chance to read and have work critiqued. There will be word count limits each week on the amount of writing shared so that we do have time for everyone and to cover that week’s lessons.
